Panty LinerOASIS SAF® is used as the super absorbent of choice in ultra-thin hygiene cores. Use of OASIS SAF® allows for the manufacture of soft, flexible, light and extremely discreet hygiene cores. Such cores offer superior absorbency and retention of fluid performance, even at high OASIS SAF® content levels.

Fluid Absorption Performance

Some granular super absorbents have extremely high water absorbency figures. With the addition of substances such as 0.9% common salt (sodium chloride – urine equivalent), the absorbency of these “super water absorbers” can fall to 10% or less of the water absorbency. Generally the absorbency of all polyacrylate super absorbents is reduced by the presence of ionic substances in the aqueous fluid.

Water absorbency values are not relevant to fem hygiene / adult incontinence applications where the fluid to be absorbed contains a complex mixture of dissolved substances. When multivalent ions, such as divalent calcium, are present the effect on absorbency is even more dramatic.

  • eliminates migration of super absorbent within fabric.
  • fabrics are easier to slit and cut after manufacture with reduced blade wear and shedding of super absorbent.
  • provides for a more uniform distribution of super absorbent particularly with low base weights.
  • provides high surface area - for high absorbency rates and reduced blocking by large molecules found in blood and other body fluids.
